James Donald Spears

James Donald “Don” Spears, age 81, of McDonald, TN. passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at a Chattanooga Health Care Facility. Don was born on a little farm near Barsola, Texas to the late John Edward and Ola Mae Spears. Don was always happy, loved God, his wife Shirley, and his family especially his grandchildren. He taught himself how to play the guitar and really enjoyed playing country, western, and gospel music. He is proceeded in death by his parents listed above, one brother, Kenneth Edward Spears, and one sister Marilyn Joyce Cotham. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years Shirley Spears, one daughter Donna (Douglas) Herod, and one son Richard (Cynthia) Spears. His seven wonderful grandchildren and their spouses, Jon (Rebekah), Ben (Ashley), Matt (Jessica), Katrina (Austin), Joe (Kristle), Amanda (Charles), and Jason (Andrea). He is also survived by his thirteen great grandchildren. Special brother John Gary (Margueritte), special brother-in-law Melvin (Vera) Haining, loving sister-in-law Mildred Spears, several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends also survive. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 4:00 PM at Collegedale Church of Seventh-day Adventists. Located at 4829 College Drive E, Collegedale, TN 37315. Pastor Dwight Herod and Pastor Jim Moon officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 till 4:00 prior to the service at 4:00 PM. In leiu of flowers memorial contributions 3ABN.org.
