Dewight Hughes, age 68 of Cleveland, departed this life on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. Born on February 13, 1953 to the late Hoyt and Icie Gates Hughes, he was a native and lifelong resident of Bradley County and a member of Mount Olive Ministries. He was retired from Padgett Furniture and was an avid race fan watching NASCAR and Dirt track racing, enjoyed going to Flea Markets and estate sales, and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dewight Nathaniel Hughes.
Left behind to cherish Dewight’s memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Debbie Taylor Hughes; daughter, Shannon Hughes Bentley(Mike); grandchildren, Cody Bentley(Addison), Taylor Bentley(Jaclyn), Kelton Hughes(Anna), Davis Hughes, Nicholas Bentley, Emma Bentley, and Sawyer Hughes; great-grandchildren, Gracie Bentley, Charlotte Bentley, an Ezekel Hughes; siblings, Geneva Moore (Garry), Glenda Wheeler(Junior), Gary Hughes(Mitzi), and Tim Hughes(Jeannie); as well as several extended family members and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for James Dewight Hughes will be held at 7p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2022 from Mount Olive Ministries with Pastors James Sears and Gary Sears officiating.
A Graveside service will be held at 11 am Monday, February 7, 2022 at Earls Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5p.m. until the funeral hour on Sunday at the church.
