James Darrell Hewitt

James Darrell Hewitt, 76, of, Cleveland, TN, passed away on August 21, 2021, at his residence surrounded by family. Born on March 31, 1945, in Kinston, North Carolina to the late Grady Carl Hewitt, Sr. & Louise Owens Shepperd. He was of the Christian faith and loved classic cars, history and loved to joke. James retired from the Navy after 23 years of service and proudly served his country.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Toni Hewitt; parents, Grady Carl Hewitt Sr. & Louise Owen Sheppard; brother, Grady Carl Hewitt, Jr.; sister, Janice Gail Haddock- Dale and brother-in-law, Jimmy Grindstaff.

Survived by his son, James David (Deanna) Hewitt; daughters, Tonya Christine Hewitt and Darlene Elaine Hewitt (Charles Morrison); siblings, Betty Louise Lee (Nolan) and Helen Diane Grindstaff; grandchildren, Trey Eugene Dunn, Kaitlyn Deanna Hewitt, and Kristyn Danielle Hewitt; numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021, from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM at Companion Funeral Home. The service will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, August 28, 2021, in the chapel with a 2-hour visitation prior to the service with Mike Shreve & Mike Hewitt officiating. Burial will be held at Fort Hill Cemetery with military honors.
