James D. “Chuck” Skipper Jr., age 56 of Athens, Tennessee went to his heavenly home on October 1st, 2021 as a result of a fatal car accident.
Affectionately known as “Chuck,” he was born May 14th, 1965 to his parents James D. Skipper, Sr and Cynthia Skipper. Chuck lived and went to school in Etowah, TN then went on to graduate from McMinn Central High School in 1983.
After graduating, Chuck’s talents and mechanical aptitude took him to work for Eddie Miller Construction of Loudon, TN and Johns Manville of Etowah, TN. Chuck also owned and operated his own business of over 30 years as Skipper Tree Service, where he served Etowah and the surrounding area.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife Jane, daughter Madyson, daughter Nikki, son Matthew, and son Lucas. Chuck is survived by grandchildren Macy and Noelle. Chuck is also survived by his father “Denny” and sister Kelly, nephew, cousins, and many others.
Chuck is preceded in death by his loving mother Cynthia Skipper, his brother Todd, and grandson Caleb King.
Chuck was a loving father, a doting grandfather, a loyal son, and a caring brother. Chuck was deeply devoted to his family, always willing to make time creating fun and joyful memories for stories to be told and remembered down through the generations. His loving and gentle spirit was one of a kind, the kind of spirit that will be sorely missed by his family and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Chuck never met anyone he could not instantly talk to as though they were life long friends and he would be quick to tell you of his love for his family and most importantly of his love for Jesus Christ. Chuck’s faith for both can only be measured by the number of lives he touched, and that number is countless.
If you were fortunate to become a lifelong friend, Chuck didn’t just become your friend he became that person for which you wish you were related. His personality was infectious, his wit, and sense of humor was the type that created laughter and joy that had to be experienced first hand. He was larger than life itself and he humbly shared that persona the instant he came into a room. Chuck had a grand personality with the calm silence of a child’s whisper.
Chuck was a country boy through and through, where he covered many of the local streams, creeks, and rivers in search of the best fish, or the walking the fields and woods hunting. He loved the outdoors and he was a true representation of a mountain man, bearded with a smile that made you smile in return and eyes that sparkled with the intensity of someone much wiser beyond their years.
A celebration of his life will be held, Saturday, March 12th, 2022 at 2:00p.m. at the Miracle Deliverance Tabernacle, 245 Country Road 677, Riceville, TN 37370
