James Creason

September 29, 1956 — May 24, 2023

James (Jim) Creason, 66, of Cleveland, TN entered God’s Kingdom on May 24th, 2023. He was born September 29th, 1956, to Homer & Kathleen Creason in Dayton, Ohio.

Upon graduation from Evans High School in Orlando, FL, Jim hopped on his Harley and traveled the country. During his travels he stopped in Chattanooga, TN to visit family and met the love of his life, Lynn, the woman who would stand by his side through thick and thin. They married in February 1979 and in September 1982 they were blessed with a baby girl, Rebecca.

After several years, Jim felt the call of the Lord leading him to attend The Baptist College of Florida in Graceville, FL. So, they loaded their family into a van & headed to college. He completed his schooling and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Worship Leadership.

Jim served as a Minister of Music in churches throughout the Southeast over the course of 30 years, making amazing friends along the way. He loved to help people come to the Lord through his music. He had a voice and testimony that could touch people no matter what path their life was on.

Jim had the personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation, and his laugh was infectious to everyone around him. A man of many stories that all drew out inspiring conclusions. He was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experiences.

Jim was truly a great man whose impact will be forever felt by the family and friends that love him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive and love will be forever engrained in all those he knew.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Homer Creason and his mother Kathleen Creason. His niece, Melinda Berdahl. His nephews, Brian Berdahl and Robbie Berdahl. His brother-in-law, Chuck Martin. His son-in-law, Kyson Hooper.

Jim is survived by his wife, Lynn Creason, his daughter, Rebecca Hooper and his granddaughter, Teagan Hooper. His sisters, Jamie (Bill) Berdahl and Kathy (Jeff) Berdahl. His niece, Kelly Samuelson. His sister-in-law, Julia Martin, as well as numerous other extended family members. Along with life-long friends: Tony & Angie Barber and Gary & Janice Farmer and many, many more.

Jim’s family will receive friends for visitation on June 10th, 2023, from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM at Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Road, Cleveland, TN. A Celebration of Life service to follow at 12:30 PM with Bro. Tony Barber officiating.
