James (Jim) Charles Brasher Jr.

August 8, 1949 — November 15, 2024

James (Jim) Charles Brasher, Jr, (75) of Rock Spring, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the evening of November 15th, 2024, at his home. Jim was born August 8th, 1949, to the late Jim and Connie Brasher in Harrisburg, Illinois. When Jim was eight years old, his family moved to Paducah Kentucky and later moved to Sulphur, Louisiana, where he graduated from Sulphur High School in 1967. He then attended Harding University and later Jim graduated from Norfolk Training Center in McDonough, Georgia.

Jim retired from Southern Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railroad where he worked for 35 years as a diesel electrician. He loved the Lord and was a student of the word of God. He was an avid reader and enjoyed learning about life. He loved waterskiing, jet skis, motorcycles, in-line skating and loved tinkering with cars. Jim enjoyed singing and was on the praise team at Clear Creek Church of Christ where he attended for the past 34 years. Jim was fun loving and enjoyed making people laugh whether he was at church or at home with his family. Jim loved to sit out on his porch with his neighbors and always had a joke to share. The neighbors will miss seeing Jim and his faithful walking buddy, his dog Max.

Jim is survived by his wife, Betty (Brown) Brasher of 48 years, his brothers Mark (Pam) Brasher and Michael Brasher, and his sister April (George) Hawthorne. Also, he is survived by his nephews Jon Mark and Cameron Brasher, Seth Werner, Greg Lynn and his nieces Allie Brasher and Summer Sweat. In addition, Jim loved his grandkids of his heart, Nick Slick and McKenzie Brown. Also, Jim is survived by his in-laws, Pam (Steve) Lynn and Jay (Toni) Brown. Betty would like to express special appreciation to these family members and Hospice Care as everyone loved Jim and helped her in the last weeks of Jim's life.
