James William Boles was born November 13, 1932, in Boston, GA, to G.W. Boles and Lillie Mae Hagan. The oldest of five boys, he endured hardship early in life, losing both parents by age 12. He and his brothers were raised by their uncle and aunt, Oscar and Myrtle Hagan.
Jim served in the U.S. Air Force (1950-1954) during the Korean War, stationed at Offutt AFB, where he guarded the Enola Gay, the B-29 bomber that dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima during WWII. After his service, he attended Southern Missionary College, where he met and married Louise Satterthwaite on June 26, 1955. They enjoyed 67 years together and had two children, Judi and Sam.
After working in sales, Jim and Louise founded Bindex Incorporated in Atlanta, GA. After retiring in 2003, he and Louise moved to Andrews, NC, and later to Collegedale, TN. He loved fishing, gardening, and animals and delighted in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jim passed away on February 4, 2025, at age 92. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, and his four brothers, Eugene, G.W., Bobby, and Elvin.
