James Roger Baker, 75, a resident of Cleveland TN passed away on Friday night, June 28, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Maryville, TN on January 9, 1949, a son of the late J.C. Baker and Jean Ballard Baker. James was of the Christian faith. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army after faithfully completing one tour in Vietnam. James was retired from the Tennessee Highway Patrol after 20 years of service. He worked security for Cleveland State Community College for many years. Outside of his time in the Army, he lived his life in the East TN area. James was an avid Corvette Enthusiast and enjoyed driving his on perfect weather days. He also enjoyed helping others in need.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Nancy Strickland Baker and one brother Rodney Baker.
James leaves behind to cherish his memory one son Bradley Baker and his wife Sara of Decatur, TN, one daughter Tonya Baker, two grandchildren Cayden Childs and Sully Baker, his dog "Molly", numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 12:00 PM until 2:30 PM in the Mack Shelton Memorial Parlor of Companion Funeral Home Ridge located at 2422 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN
A graveside service will follow on Wednesday at 3:00 PM in the Veterans section of Fort Hill Cemetery.
