James Avery “Bodie” Brown, 62, a lifelong resident of Ducktown, passed away on Monday October 3, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
James was the son of the late Franklin Virgil Brown and Hester Marie Crawford Brown. He was also preceded in death by four brothers Leroy Brown, Frank Brown, Glen Brown, and Everett Brown.
James was of the Baptist faith and a very talented and gifted craftsman and woodworker. After retiring from the Tennessee Copper Company he enjoyed fishing and woodworking, but took most pleasure in being a devoted husband and father to his family.
James is survived by his wife of 43 years Sybil Payne Brown, one daughter Becky Cearley and and one son Robbie Cearley, three sisters Imogene Hamby, Janette Houston, and Patsy Simonds, four brothers Danny Brown, Billy Paul Brown, Johnny Mack Brown, and Garland Brown.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Freedom Baptist Church located on McJunkin Road in Turtletown, TN. with the Rev. Kenneth Payne officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Withlow, Vic Gibson, Junior Stillwell, Dennis Houston, Sam Houston, Joey Hamby, Teddy “Runt” Loudermilk, and Jack Burkette.
