James Anthony "Tony" Mckenzie

Obituary

James Anthony “Tony” McKenzie, 48, a resident of Decatur, TN passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 4th, 2014 from an accident. Tony was born on October 9th, 1965. He was a 1983 graduate of Meigs County High School. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved attending and cheering at track events for his son Logan. Tony attended Decatur United Methodist Church. His smiling face will be sadly missed by his family, friends and his dog “Jack”.

Tony is preceded in death by his father, R. L. McKenzie Jr., and grandparents Spurgeon & Opal Suits, R. L. McKenzie Sr. and Felix & Myrtle Randolph.

Tony leaves behind to cherish his memory his son James “Logan” McKenzie and his mother, Michelle McKenzie of Niota, TN, mother Jane Suits McKenzie, two brothers and sisters-in-law Ruben “Mike” & Michele Brown McKenzie and Chris & Bridget McKenzie, sister Jennifer McKenzie, niece Emma Womac, nephews Bryce & Tanner McKenzie all of Decatur, TN. He is also survived by aunts and uncles Ned & Ann Johnson of Cleveland, TN, Billy G. & Johnnie McKenzie, Jerry M. & Jeania McKenzie, Mary Lou & Benny DeLoach all of Decatur, TN and George Madison & Shelby McKenzie of Harrison, TN, many cousins, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

A memorial celebration of his life is planned for Friday night, June 6th, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the Decatur United Methodist Church located at 145 Vernon Street in Decatur, TN with the Reverend Hugh Bryan officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church on Friday afternoon from 4:00 PM until the 7:00 PM service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the Decatur United Methodist Church Building Fund in Tony’s memory.
