Obituary
Jacob R. McCracken, 88 of Union Grove, AL died Sunday, May 25th, 2014 at his residence. Mr. McCracken was born Thursday, May 13th, 1926 in Cleveland, Tennessee, the son of William A. and Nellie E. McCracken. He has called the Union Grove, AL area home for the past 45 years. He was a member of the Baptist faith and also a member of the V. F. W., having honorably served his Country in the United States Navy during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
He is survived by a son, Ricky G. McCracken, three daughters and sons-in-law, Kay & Bill Standridge, Sue & Steve Love and Debbie Jordan, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, two brothers and sisters-in-law Doyle A. & Billie McCracken and James J. & Jo Ann McCracken, four sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth Thompson, Bonnie & Ken Mart, Faye Wagner and Amy Lou& Bill Coker, several nieces, nephews, other family members and many dear friends and neighbors. He is preceded in death by his wife Ellen Bunch McCracken, three sons Paul, Robert "Bobby" and Danny McCracken, his parents William and Nellie McCracken and four brothers Russell, Bobby, Ray and Paul McCracken.
A visitation was held on Tuesday night, May 27th, 2014 from 4 to 6 PM at the Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, AL.
A celebration of his life is planned for Thursday, May 29th, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN with the Reverend Doyle McCracken and the Reverend James McCracken officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Ocoee, TN with the family serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with full military honors. The family will receive friends in the chapel on Thursday from 12:00 noon until the 2:00 PM service time.
