Obituary
Jack Russell Lee, Sr., age 90, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday August 12, 2015. Jack was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN. He was born May 27, 1925 to the late Charles Spurgeon and Maude Hensley Lee. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Louise Corpetti Lee, granddaughter Stacie Ann Best; sister Ruth Lee Harmon; brothers David Lee, Harold Lee, and G.B. Lee. He is survived by his sister and brother in law June and T.J. Cawood; children Jeff & Mary Lee, Bill & Judy Lee Best, Jack Lee Jr.; grandchildren Cristie Best Moses, Jasen & Jennifer Parks, Mary Best, Sarah & Jeff Bryant, Ariel & Shane Doody, Katie Lee and Seth Lee.
Jack was blessed with nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by cousins and many loving nieces and nephews. Jack joined the U.S. Marines in 1943 at age 18. He served in the 6th Marine Division in Guadalcanal, Guam, Okinawa, and also participated in the surrender of Japan in Tsingtao, China in 1945.
He was very devoted to his family and loved being a builder and working with his hands. Jack worked full time as a construction superintendent until age 84.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday August 15, 2015 at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311 with Rev. Michael Cawood officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30am until the 12:00pm service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at New Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors. A memorial service will also be held for jack at All Saints Catholic Church in Knoxville, TN at 10:30am on Friday August 21, 2015.
