Obituary
J. Evelyn Morgan, 86, went to her Heavenly home on Monday, May 7, 2012. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Cleveland Tennessee being born here on January 30, 1926 a daughter of the late Bruce E. and Hattie Guinn Shields. She graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1945. Evelyn was a local hairdresser and owned her own shop Evelyn’s Beauty Lounge for over 45 years. She was a very active member in the North Cleveland Church of God for 35 plus years. Evelyn served as a greeter, sang in the ladies choir, a member of the Unity Sunday School Class, and active in Sister May’s Tuesday prayer meetings. These were just a few ways she loved to minister and volunteer for her church. Evelyn also dearly loved her family and spending time with them. The role of mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was one she held with great pride and joy.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Roy Morgan, one sister Delores May Shields Myers and one brother James Bruce Shields.
Evelyn leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter Charlene Redmond Pitre (James) and one son Victor A. Redmond (Earlene), four grandchildren Scott Redmond, Marc Redmond, Jamie Beaty (Mark), and Mindy Pitre, six great grandchildren Morgan & Sarah Redmond, Isaiah & Carmen Beaty, Isabella Pitre, and Micah Burnette, and a host of other extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 4:30 PM in the Dixon Chapel of the North Cleveland Church of God located at 335 11th Street NE, Cleveland, TN with Dr. James Beaty, Reverend Cye Harris, and Reverend Travis Porter officiating. The family will receive friends in the Dixon Chapel in Thursday from 1:00 PM until the 4:30 PM service time. The family will hold a private interment at a later date.
