Isabell “Bell” Ash Enriques Rush passed quietly from this life to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ face to face and receive her promise of eternal life on Thursday, December 23, 2021 surrounded by her family on the beloved family farm in Ocoee. She was born in the Chestuee Community a daughter of the late Fate and Julia Kinser Ash on January 29, 1923. When she was a small child her family moved to a farm in Ocoee where her dad ran a mill and farmed to support his family during the depression. She met our dad, Grady Enriques, when his mother bought the adjoining farm. When they were children he told her he was going to marry her someday and their lifelong love story began. They were married in June of 1941. They were celebrating his birthday on Dec. 7, 1941 when Pearl Harbor was attacked and he was soon called to war. After basic training, she chose to follow him as his training continued so she could be with him every minute until he was shipped out to the South Pacific from California and she returned to the farm. After the war, they lived in California where he worked construction and she was a telephone operator but their love of family and the hills of TN soon called them home and they bought his mother’s farm and began dairy farming and had four children. He eventually did maintenance on the flume line with TVA until his death in 1970.
Our mom was a tiny lady with a huge heart and personality who never met a stranger so she had many friends. We never knew what she would do or say so she made our lives interesting and fun and kept us laughing. She loved us all unconditionally and always had a big smile. She was always ready for an adventure, loved trying new things and was ready to go anywhere at any time. She was an encourager and was ready to help anyone in need. She had a servant’s heart that she used faithfully to serve her Lord and others as long as she was physically able. She loved her church and taught Sunday School, Missions, VBS, and worked in the Library and WMU.
She loved to travel, work crossword puzzles, watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, hand quilting, play games, grow and preserve food and cook huge meals for her family and friends. Her door was always open. Her greatest joy was in her family, especially her grandchildren who called her “Nanny” and loved her dearly. She loved us all well and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we are rejoicing that she is spending Christmas in Heaven with Jesus and all the ones she loved who were waiting for her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Fate and Julia Kinser Ash, her first husband of 28 years and father of her children Grady Frank Enriques, her second husband of one year Winfred Rush, her son Jakie Enriques, her sister Ressie Ash McAllister, her five brothers Luke, Virgil, Austin, Lester & Jake Ash, her grandson Travis Rogers, daughter-in-law Roberta Enriques and son-in-law Jim Hendren.
She is survived by her daughters Valerie Smith and her husband Jim of Cleveland, Donna Hendren of Ocoee and her son Frankie Enriques and Sharon of Ocoee, her granddaughters Lori Smith Lankford of Brentwood, and Storm Enriques of Ocoee, grandsons Jacob Enriques of Ocoee and Grady Enriques of Benton, nine great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren, special niece Janice Kinser White and Nephew Joe Kinser and many greatly loved nieces and nephews, numerous other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Smyrna Baptist Church located at 209 Smyrna Road in Ocoee, TN. A service celebrating her life will begin at 2:00 PM following the visitation time at the church also with the Reverend Jimmy Parm officiating.
The interment and committal will follow in the church cemetery with Joe Kinser, Charles Kinser, Jerry Lankford, Eddie Goins, Jacob Enriques, and Stanley Ash serving as pallbearers.
