Hugh Dennis Murphy II, 36, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN passed away on Wednesday, February 10th, 2016 at his home from natural causes. He was born on June 16th, 1979. Dennis was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. He graduated from Hixson High School in 1997. Dennis was voted MVP for the Hixson Wildcats baseball team in 1997. He also attended Cleveland High School until his senior year. During that time, he ranked 2nd in the State Wrestling Tournament. Dennis worked as a licensed insurance agent for many years as well as holding a degree in Information Technology. All throughout his life, he enjoyed playing sports. Dennis also enjoyed golfing, coin and currency collecting, but most importantly enjoyed spending time with his family. The title he took great pride in was “Uncle Dennis”. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Hugh J. Jr. and Hazel Irene Murphy and Flora Kendrick along with several aunts and uncles. Dennis leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents Hugh and Linda Murphy, one brother and his wife Patrick & Alicia Murphy of Nelson, GA, his nephew Keaton Murphy also of Nelson, GA, aunts Janice Kendrick, Brenda Wilcoxon and Colleen Carroll, one uncle Melvin Kendrick all of Cleveland, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends. A funeral mass is planned for Monday, February 15th, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the St. Therese Catholic Church located at 900 Clingan Ridge Drive NW in Cleveland, TN with Father Mike Nolen officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the 3:00 PM service time in the church vestibule. The entombment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made in Dennis’s memory to either St. Therese Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
