Obituary
“When a great man dies, the light he leaves behind, lies on the paths of men.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Though written more than a century ago, those words aptly describe Brent Gill, a remarkable man whose legacy will illuminate the paths of many for years to come.
Brent Gill’s great light shone the brightest in the presence of his family and friends. An exceptionally devoted husband and father, Brent was known for his servant’s heart, constant smile, positive outlook and sincere humility. Brent’s gentle strength, selflessness, immense kindness and unwavering spirit inspired everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed.


Brent Gill died April 21, 2013. Born December 3, 1942, Brent and his late brother Kent were raised in Cleveland, Tenn. as the sons of Mary “Diddie” and Rev. John Howard Gill, both now deceased.

Brent is survived by his wife of 32 years Paula; son Johnny Gill; his daughters Angie Gill, Bridgette Gresham and her husband Raleigh, and Kelli Brown. Brent adored his six grandchildren Cayci Gill, Alex Gill Beau Gresham, Palmer Gresham, Chelsea Little, and Cindy Maples, as well as nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in Brentwood at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013in the Baskin Chapel at Brentwood Baptist Church in Brentwood, Tennessee.
The family will receive family and friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Baskin Chapel.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Brent to the Belmont Rose Garden c/o Belmont University Office of Development 1900 Belmont Blvd Nashville, TN 37212 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
