Homer Lee Goins

Homer Lee Goins of Chattanooga, Tennessee received his heavenly reward on January 15, 2022. Homer was born in Cleveland, Tennessee on November 28, 1935, to the late Creed and Vennie Rayfield Goins. He grew up in the East Cleveland area and graduated from Bradley High School. After high school, he served in the United States Army. Homer lived most of his life in Chattanooga, retiring from the City of Chattanooga Public Works Department.
Homer loved to travel. He was an avid Vols football fan and season ticket holder for many years. He also enjoyed classical music, especially Mozart. Homer was a gym-rat and constantly reminded others of the benefits of exercising. Homer loved his family and was deeply loved by them. His special family Cesar, Magdalena, Alex, and Kyara brought him much joy and love. Homer’s cat Bootsie was his constant companion.
Homer was preceded in death by his brothers Gene Goins (Barbara), and J.C. Goins (Billie Goins Ledford), his sister Ida Faye Goins May (Bill), nephews Ron Morrison, Greg Goins, Randy Goins, and Jeff Goins.
Remaining to cherish Homer’s memory are his brother Gerald Goins (Margaret), special son and daughter Cesar Gonzalez and Magdalena Pedraza, special grandchildren Alex and Kyara Gonzalez, nieces Teresa Raby (Darrell), Linda Morrison, Debbie Walker, Kimberly Nolen (Brian), Sheila Arcara (Tony), Renee Hartert (Joe), Jennifer Tate (Richard), nephews Rodney Goins (Tina), Rick May (Christie), Tony Goins (Yvonne), Bryan Goins, Jamie Goins, and many other family members and friends.

A gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 5:30PM-7:30 PM on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, January 31,2022 at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
