Homer Eugene "Gene" Henry Jr.

Homer Eugene “Gene” Henry, Jr., 78, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday morning, June 9, 2016, at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga.
Born in Conasauga on February 25, 1938, he was the son of the late Homer Eugene and Mamie Evelyn Eloise Chable Henry.
He was an Army veteran and retired from Grinnell Fire Protection in Chattanooga.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 34 years, Linda Sue Dixon Henry of Cleveland; brother, Bud Henry, of Cleveland; and sister, Juanita Henry Chastain, of Orlando, Florida.
He is survived by a son, Todd Eugene Henry, and wife, Jennifer, along with his two grandchildren, Gwendalin Sage Henry and Cooper Ronan Henry, all of Charleston; brother, Weyman Henry, and wife, Mary Alice, of Ocoee; sister, Mary Sue Henry Chastain of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Kevin Felton and wife, Sharon, along with their daughter, Jennifer.
A viewing for close friends and family will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church in Ocoee on Sunday, June 12, 2016, from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, with a graveside service in the church cemetery immediately following. The service will be officiated by Pastor Charlie Campbell. Pallbearers will be Terry Chastain, John Dixon, Barton Dixon, Dr. Jason Nicholson, Hayden Nicholson, and Larry Swafford. Buddy Henry will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, or the Shiloh Baptist Preschool Ministry.
