Hester Cross Harned

Hester Cross Harned, 95, a resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away peacefully Tuesday April 19th, 2016. She was born October 10th, 1920 to the late Daniel Marion and Lou Woody Cross. She grew up in the Cookson Creek area of Polk County. She was a 1938 graduate of Polk County High School and Edmondson School of Business, Chattanooga, TN. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Gleaners Sunday School class, and served as a preschool Sunday School teacher over 60 years. She and her husband owned and operated Cleveland Exterminating Co., Inc.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert Lee Harned; parents, Daniel and Lou Cross; great-granddaughter, Sarah Hunter; sister, Dovie Waters, and brother, Homer Cross.
Survivors include two children, Sue H. (Darryl) Fendley and Fred (Alecia) Harned; grandchildren, Dr. Britany (Bradley) Watt of Indian Hills, Florida, Suzanne F. (Stephen) Hunter of Chester, South Carolina, Bridgett H. Keenum of Cleveland, Betsy F. (Bill) Oliver of Chester, South Carolina, Dan (Tiffany) Fendley of Cleveland, and Rob (Danielle) Harned of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Alana and Julie Watt, Anna and Andrew Hunter, Christina and Audrey Keenum, Maddox, Makayla, and Mason Fendley, Caitlynd, Cobe, and Colton Harned, and Tate and Peyton Oliver; sister, Novella Bishop, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 9:00am until 10:00am at Companion Funeral Home on Friday morning, April 22nd.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30am in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens on Friday.
