Helen Chambers

January 30, 1932 — September 5, 2023

Helen Coleman Chambers, 91, of Athens, TN passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 5, 2023, at her home. A lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was the 5th child and 1st daughter of 10 siblings and was the daughter of the late Willis & Eliza Coleman. She was a founding member of the Woodward Avenue Church of God. Helen was involved in the ladies' ministries, taught Sunday School, and was an active member of the Keenagers. She loved her church. Helen worked for 10 years for South Central Bell and 35 years for Sears Roebuck & Co.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years Doyle W. Chambers, her in-laws Roy & Natalie Chambers of Etowah, stepson Michael W. Chambers of Cleveland, four brothers Roy Coleman (Betty), Jewel Ray Coleman both of Chattanooga, Carl Coleman (Mildred) and Herman Coleman (Jean) both of Athens, two brothers in-law Eddy Williams and Jack Rudder both of Etowah and a very special lifelong friend Laverne Patterson of Athens.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her only child and son-in-law Tina & Wayne Oliver of Athens, one granddaughter Nikki Carroll Settles and partner Cliff Burnette, one grandson Nathan Carroll and wife Crystal of Etowah, five great grandchildren Gavin & Lilly Claire Settles, Maddie Carroll, Tucker Carroll and Major Carroll, two bonus great grandchildren Landon & Hayden Hinkle, one step great granddaughter Lorri Chambers Moultrie and two step great grandchildren Sarah & Michael and their mother Brenda Chambers Pearson all of Cleveland. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law Judy Coleman of Chattanooga, Betty Williams & Helen Rudder Denham of Etowah, three brothers Fred A. & Glenda Coleman, Ralph & Elizabeth Coleman and Danny & Billie Coleman, two sisters Eva Jean Hacker and Jackie Stanton both of Athens, last but not least her fur baby "Missy".

The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga staff Jessica, Amanda, Brandy, and Dr. Johnny Carter.

The family will have a graveside service on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the McMinn Memory Gardens with Chaplin Joe Kemper officiating.
