Harold L Allen, “Deer Man” 74, a resident of Niota, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday June 26th with family by his side. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Telford Allen of Ohio & Ester Sutton Allen of West Virginia. His Brother, Bill Allen of Tellico TN, Brother Estel Allen of Alabama, Sister Norma Jean Rutledge of FL, Sister Shirley Miller of Virginia, Brother in Law William Moses of Tellico and Niece Pam Moses Williams of Tellico.
He is survived by his Wife, Sharon Kay Allen of Niota, Three Sons, Billy (Missy) Allen of Cleveland, Kenny Allen of Niota, Lonnie (Carrie) Allen of Riceville, and one Daughter Linda (Scott) Silvers of Cleveland.
He has 11 Grandchildren, Kalisha (Josh) Ledford of Old Fort, Courtney (Matt) Stone of Cleveland, Leigh Ann Works (Tanner) of Cleveland, Brittany (Taylor) White of Cleveland, Alexis (Aaron) Bales of Sweetwater, Dakota Allen of Cleveland, Ashley Allen of Cleveland, Twins Ty & Trace Allen of Riceville, Jazmin Allen of Niota, Blake Allen of Niota and 7 Great Grandchildren. Three sisters, his Twin Sister Carol Moses of Tellico, Shelia Scott of Tellico, Peggy Luttrell of Florida and one brother Charles (Jenny) Allen of Ohio.
At 17yrs old, he enlisted in the US Army in March 1964 to support his Mother & our Country. He was a Proud Vietnam Veteran that loved his country. He received many medals and specialty training starting in Ft Knox, to Ft Benning and later orders to Alaska and Vietnam.
He had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything Nature. He loved watching deer and meeting people. He just wanted to enjoy life and make people laugh and smile. He loved the Dairy Barn. He loved showing pictures of Wild Deer he tamed and his family. He lived for the moment.
The family would like to express a special Thank you to Hospice of Chattanooga and his nurse Amanda.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in honor of him to St Jude Children’s Hospital, American Cancer Society, or Wildlife Conservation Society.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM in the Athens chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 400 S White Street. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Lake Walker officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Charleston, TN with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The committal service will conclude with military honors.
