Harold Bowman

August 27, 1939 — February 20, 2025

Harold Bowman, 85, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather was peacefully called home to be with our Lord and Savior on February 20, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Harold was born August 27, 1939 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Willis Lee and Helen Durant Bowman.

Harold was a humble man who loved Jesus Christ with all of his heart. He married the love of his life, Mary Frances Burns, in 1963, and they remained lifelong residents of Hamilton County Tennessee. He served his country with pride as a U.S. Army veteran and dedicated 35 years of his life working at Dupont Chattanooga as an electrician (control equipment technician). Harold's kindness, generosity, and hard work touched the lives of many. Whether he was helping others, spending time with his beloved family, or enjoying his favorite pastimes like fishing and restoring tractors, he lived a life dedicated to those around him. He loved his family and he loved God. He was a familiar and friendly face at the Bakewell flea market, where he often sold treasures he had found in storage unit clean outs and formed many cherished friendships.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Billy Lee Bowman, sister Betty Lee Bowman, and granddaughter Ashley Benton.

Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Mary Frances Burns Bowman; brother John Bowman of Hixson, daughters Denise Benton (Michael) of Suisun, CA , Teresa Perkins (Darren) of Crimora, VA , Melissa Keith (Christopher) of Waynesboro, VA, and son Tracy Bowman (Kandice) of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren Meghan Driver (Joel), Bianca Gamarra, Bliss Nuckols (Pickle), Christian Keith, April Palmer (Eric), Dakota Cunningham (Alexa), Amanda Sanders (Garrett), Savanna Craig (Cody), Matthew Bowman, Alissa Marion (Layton), Andrea Donaghy, Abigail Donaghy and Zachary Bowman; twenty great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

We are grateful for the love and support he shared, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Hospice of Chattanooga for their compassion and support during Harold's final days.

In accordance with Harold's wishes, there will be no funeral service. We kindly invite you to celebrate his memory privately in a way that is meaningful to you. The family deeply appreciates your understanding during this challenging time.

You are invited to share a personal memory of Harold or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
