Gloria Hammontree

July 7, 1951 — November 29, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Joyce Hammontree, loving mother, wife, sister, friend, and a remarkable Lady. Gloria passed peacefully on Wednesday November 29th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Gloria's nurturing spirit, unwavering support, and boundless love will forever live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren.

Gloria was a brilliant woman. She worked as a nurse assistant while earning her nursing degree after raising her children. Gloria enjoyed her career working in hospitals, home health, and in travel nursing until she retired. Previous to her career as a nurse, Gloria owned a sandwich shop in Dayton, TN and co-owned a trophy shop in Spring City, TN. She also coached little league cheerleading for several years when her children were young.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Gloria was known for her warm and caring personality. She had a generous heart, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Gloria was compassionate about crafting and when she wasn't filling her home with warmth, she could be found in her craft room sewing, crocheting blankets, and making ornaments. During the time of COVID, she used fabric from her craft room to sew masks, which she then donated.

Waiting in Heaven to greet Gloria is her husband of 46 years, William Allen Hammontree, her father Raymond Bogart, her mother Colona Palmer, her sister Lisa Hill, her daughter-in-law Renee Hammontree, and her nephew Scotty Palmer Jr.

Gloria is survived by her siblings: Jackie (Mark) Wilson of Dayton, Tennessee, Raymond (Mary) Bogart of Boulder City, Nevada, Pete (Marsha) Palmer of Boulder City, Nevada, and Scott (Susan) Palmer of Mazula, Montana.

Gloria is also survived by her children: Bill Hammontree of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, Willie (Windy) Hammontree of Hixon, Tennessee, Leslie Hammontree and Amy Hammontree of Spring City, Tennessee. As well as her grandchildren: Cloe, Corbin, Reid, Bennett, Hattie Hammontree and many nieces and nephews.

Gloria requested a celebration of life be held in her honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request that her loved ones and friends join us in celebrating her beautiful life. A date and time will be announced to family and friends at a later date. Please feel free to leave a memorial message on her web page with Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, Tennessee.
