Glenda Sue Swafford

December 17, 1962 — October 22, 2019

Glenda Sue Swafford, 56, a long-time resident of Cleveland, TN, gained her angel wings on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, surrounded by family and friends and holding her son’s hand as she took her last breath. Glenda was passionate about: attending church, going fishing and camping, playing bingo, and spending quality time with family, friends, and her cats. Glenda was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she enjoyed spending time in the house of the Lord and with her church family.
Glenda is preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Gideon; father, Allen Swafford; maternal grandparents, Laura & Arlie Gideon; paternal grandparents, Alice Freeman and George Swafford; her first cat, Buttercup; and several other family members and close friends.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Joshua Smith and Travis Bess; “special” daughter, Kayla Fulks; siblings: Peggy (Richard) Gravitt, Beverly Smith, Donna (Ray) Thurman, and Becky Evans; “special” sister, Tina Brannon; “special” family through the Church of God Home for Children in Sevierville (now known as Smokey Mountain Children’s Home); two “special” grandchildren, Hunter and Brantlee Rymer; her cats, Cali and Snowball; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Glenda had a beautiful soul, and she will be dearly missed. Her family and friends find great comfort in knowing she is in that mansion just over the hilltop she often spoke of.
The family would request donations be made in honor of Glenda to the Smokey Mountain Children’s Home in Sevierville, TN as she held a special place in her heart for their cause.
A celebration of life service will be held 1 PM this Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Woody and Brother Josh Myers officiating.
