Glen Allen “Doc” Dockins, 88, a lifelong resident of Athens, TN passed away on Friday morning October 11, 2019 at Life Care of Athens. He was born in Athens on November 2, 1930 a son of the late Artice & Ida Dockins. Doc was employed for many years with Athens Stove Works. He was later affiliated with the McMinn Sherriff’s Department and also served as constable of the 1st District of McMinn County. Doc enjoyed fishing and camping, but most of all spending time with his family and four legged companions.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Eva Nell, less than a month ago and one daughter Eva Faye Slack. He is also preceded in death by one sister Edith Morrow and four brothers Jim Dockins, Harry Dockins, Randall Dockins and Franklin Dockins.
Doc leaves behind to cherish his memory one daughter and son in law Glenda & Dick Moss, granddaughters Renee Morgan and Laura Fulbright and her husband Kyle, one great grandson Porter Fulbright, one sister Joyce Davis, one brother in law Eddie Harris and his wife Judy of Riceville, TN, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, October 14, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Athens chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 400 S White Street.
A graveside service is planned for Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the McMinn Memory Gardens with the Reverend Jimmy Maddox officiating.
