Obituary

Gladys Mae Brown, 85, a lifelong resident of McDonald, TN passed away at her home on Saturday night, February 1st, 2014. Gladys was born on August 22nd, 1928 a daughter of the late Lenord and Ila Brock. She was of the Methodist faith and a lifelong member of the McDonald United Methodist Church. Gladys’s entire work career was spent with the Plastic Surgery Group of Chattanooga. She was very active in the local chapter of the Eastern Star where she served as a Worthy Matron for many terms. Gladys loved to travel, crafts, making flower gardens and just simply enjoying the birds that visited her yard.

In addition to her parents Gladys is preceded in death by three brothers Judge Ray L. Brock Jr., Edwin Brock and Paul “Buddy” Brock.

Gladys leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 67 years Laddie Gene Brown, one daughter and son-in-law Suzanne and Ken Marquis of Lexington, SC, two grandchildren Brittany Hixson and Travis Headrick and his wife Hope, four great grandchildren; PFC Christopher Headrick, Tyler Headrick, Jacob Hixson and Brooke Hixson, two sisters Inez McCarter of Chattanooga, TN and Charlotte Albritton (Don), two brothers Calvin Brock (Barbara) of Cleveland and William Brock. She is also survived by numerous other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.

A graveside service is planned for Tuesday, February 4th, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Lee Cemetery in McDonald, TN with the Reverend Janet Geitner officiating.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be sent to the McDonald United Methodist Church at 4836 S. Lee Highway in McDonald, TN in her memory.
