Geraldine Blackwell

Geraldine Blackwell, 86 of Cleveland, TN passed away on April 4, 2019 at a local hospital. She was born on March 18, 1933 to the late James Bud & Sarah Jane Carmey Bledsoe in Ewing, VA. Geraldine was the youngest of 15 siblings all of whom have preceded her in death.

She met and married her husband of 55 years Robert Blackwell in Cleveland never leaving his side until his death on September 10, 2008. Together they raised nine decent hardworking children who loved her dearly.

Geraldine leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Sarah Smith (Randy) of Charleston, TN, Charles Blackwell (Betty) of Cleveland, TN Charlotte Wilcox (Shawn) of Gray Court, SC, Mike Blackwell (Marie) of Cleveland, TN, Roberta Chastain (Wayne) of Lafayette, GA, George Blackwell (Tresia) of Cleveland, TN, Kenneth Blackwell (Victoria) of Charleston, TN, Gilbert Blackwell (Angie) of Charleston, TN and Steve Blackwell of Cleveland, TN. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and was eagerly awaiting her first great great granddaughter which is due is August.

She was blessed with a dear friend Regina Blackwell who provided encouragement, love and support with her countless visits to the doctor and hospital. Regina she loved you like a daughter. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Stevie Blackwell who’s loving care made it possible for her to stay at home until her recent hospitalization.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, April 8, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Cleveland chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN. A celebration of her life will follow the visitation on Monday evening at 7:00 PM with the Reverend Gary Farris officiating.

The interment and committal service will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the New Friendship Cemetery with her grandsons Gil Blackwell, Tyler Blackwell, Chris Shrader, Jeremy Blackwell, Daniel Blackwell and Dylan Blackwell serving as pallbearers.
