Gerald Newton

Gerald (Jerry) Emmerson Newton, 79, of Niota, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023.

He was longtime manager of Greyhound bus station and U-Haul of Athens, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents Estus and Frances Newton; in-laws Clyde and Lily Jones; brother and sister-in-law Gene and Nancy Newton; brother in-laws Gerald Turner and Vernon Merrick, and niece Angie Fitzgerald.

He is survived by wife Barbara Newton; daughter Pat (Larry) Mason; son Ken Newton; grandsons Blake (Shannon) Mason and Caleb Newton; brother Eddy (Dianne) Newton; sister Joy (Jim) Runyan; sister in-laws Anna Turner, Mary Merrick, and Wanda (Ron) McNeese; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held at 1st Baptist Church of Niota on Sunday, November 5 at 2pm.

Family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to 1st Baptist Church of Niota.
