George Sanford

November 2, 1960 — March 8, 2024

George Everett Sanford, age 63, of Delano, TN, planted his feet and ran straight into glory on March 8, 2024. He spent his final days surrounded by the one's that he loves and the one's that love him. He was born on November 2, 1960, in Athens, TN, to the late Roy Hicks and Gracie Sanford.

George worked tirelessly in the Timber Industry throughout his life. His dedication and hard work left a lasting impact on those around him. He was strong and the strength shown through every aspect of his life.

Known for being as stubborn as a mule, George was a loving Dad and Pappy to his children and grandchildren. He cherished spending time outdoors. If he wasn't hard at work, then he was most likely spending time fishing, hunting or boating. Throughout his life, his favorite moments, were spending time with his family out on the lake. His presence and laughter will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

George is survived by his faithful son, Michael (Tami) Sanford of Delano, TN, and loyal daughter, Tashie (Mark) Baxter of Ocoee, TN. He will also be remembered by his loving grandchildren, Hailee Sanford, Dakota Sanford, Logan Baxter, and Kaleb Baxter, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Linda Stone Sanford, and brother, Roy Dale Sanford.

A service to honor and celebrate George's life will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 6pm at Community Fellowship, located at 260 Benton Station Rd, Benton, TN 37307.

George's legacy of love and laughter, dedication to family, and passion for the outdoors will forever be cherished by those who knew him. We cannot wait to see him again in eternity.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the healthcare workers from Accent Health, Amedysis Hospice of Athens, and to Amanda Stocklin for all of their help in caring for him.
