Gary Kamp, Age 51, died after a fierce battle with cancer and woke in the arms of our Lord on Thursday August 31, 2017. Gary spent 29 years in uniform from military service to Law Enforcement . Over his career, he served his country and community with passion and honor. His background included Special Operations Division, Patrol, K-9, Detective, SWAT, Division Comander and National Trainer. Of all his many accomplishments Gary attributed his greatest success to be his family. He was many things to many people: a devoted husband, father, son, brother, protector, brave leader and trusted friend. He is survived by his wife Marie, children Zachary and wife Ashliegh, Mason, Madeline and 2 grandchildren Azaela and Simon. As well as his mother Janice, brother Denis and two sisters Jennifer and Heather. Gary lived his life with strength, a sense of humor, and as an adventure with many trials and triumphs along the way. He finished his race well, surrounded by the most important thing in his life…those who loved him. We are crying for your earthly presence but take great peace in knowing you have no more pain, are with our Lord and walking the streets of Heaven holding the hand of your daughter Haley. Rest in Peace until we meet again. You are encouraged to share a memory of Gary and/or your personal condolences with his family by visiting his memorial web page and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home Athens is honored to assist Gary’s family with these arrangements.
