Obituary
Gary McKenzie Chapman (Gary Mac) passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the age of 67. Chapman was a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, but died in Valdosta, Georgia with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer. Chapman is survived by his wife, JoAnn Chapman, his three children – Nicki Rutledge, Gary Chapman, and Kacy Huffman; his grandchildren – Cory Rutledge, Meaghan Davis, and Autum Rutledge; his sister Barbara Webb; his nieces Vicki Carrol, Darlene Bryson, Pam Rouser, and Donna Lowe; and many great nieces and nephews. Chapman was born in Bradley County, Tennessee to Grady and Lura Lee Chapman on September 23, 1947. Chapman had a well decorated military career for more than 25 years and retired as a Master Sargent. While in the Air Force, he received a meritorious service award, three accommodation medals, and an All American Family award. While serving his country, he lived abroad and served in three wars. He was a deeply religious man who witnessed every chance he got. He was an avid pool player, very adventurous and had a great sense of humor. He was a loving man who never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held at Companion Funder Home from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday January 29, 2014. A military funeral service will follow at 7:00pm on Thursday the 29th. Interment will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Friday January 30, 2015 at 10:30am.
