Garland Hoyle Murray

Obituary 
Garland Hoyle Murray, 66, a resident of Cleveland passed away at his residence on Saturday, February 4, 2012 surrounded by his family. Garland was a native Cleveland resident born on August 13, 1945 a son of the late G. H. “Bert” Murray and Geneva Cunningham Murray.
Garland retired from Maytag beginning his service at Hardwick Stove in the early 70’s. He was an elder at New Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Garland was an avid birdwatcher, insatiable reader, bee keeper and farmer. The delights of his life however were his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Garland is preceded in death by five brothers Clifford, Roy Lee, Leonard, Carl and Billy Murray all of Cleveland, TN.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sherry Triplett Murray, one daughter Breann Murray Tolley, two grandchildren Garland “Land” Tolley and Genevieve “Evie” Tolley, son-in-love Robert “Butch” Tolley all of Cleveland; sisters and their husbands Frances and Jim Swafford of Cleveland and Carolyn and Jim Milligan of Austin, TX, three brothers Garry and his wife Janice of Cleveland, Ray Murray of Lenior City and Gordon Sam of Birchwood, TN, sisters-in-law Irene Murray and Tina Murray, Joan Smith and her husband Manuel, and father-n-law Lake Triplett all of Cleveland. He also leaves to cherish his memory many beloved nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.
A memorial service is being planned for Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the New Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church located at 310 New Murraytown Road NW, Cleveland, TN with the Reverend John McCarty, Reverend Sam Melton, Reverend James Patterson, and Reverend Louisa Parsons officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM prior to the memorial service.
A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Murray Family Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family request memoriasl be sent to the New Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 310 New Murraytown Rd, NW, Cleveland, TN 37312.
