Freddie Ricketts, 68, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Freddie Ricketts Sr., his brother, Shane Ricketts, and his nephew, Matthew Stiles.
Freddie dedicated his life to his work as a boilermaker at IB&M. He was known for his strong work ethic, vast knowledge, humor, and quick wit, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues. He also served as a reserve officer with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, demonstrating his commitment to public service.
In 1989, Freddie embarked on an exciting adventure with the Merchant Marines, embracing the thrill of life at sea. Although he briefly considered making a career of it, he made the courageous decision to return home and prioritize being a more present father to his son Benjamin.
Freddie will be remembered by those who loved him as an adoring and entertaining uncle, a strong and reliable brother, a beautiful first-born son, a hardworking colleague, a mentor, a generous friend, and above all else, a loving and proud father.
He is survived by his son, Benjamin Ricketts; his mother, Mary Jo Ricketts; his sister, Mary Stiles; and his niece, Amber Genter (Fred Genter).
