Frank Anthony Tekstar
Beaver – Frank Anthony Tekstar, 92, longtime resident of Beaver, passed away peacefully in Sweetwater, Tennessee, with family by his side, on December 13, 2020, having battled to recover from a fall he took on September 30, 2020. Frank was born January 21, 1928 in Ambridge and was the son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Sophia (Frank) Tekstar.
After graduating with the Class of 1945 from Ambridge High School, Frank served in the U. S. Army Signal Corps and then moved to Chicago to continue his education and pursue a career. While earning his Bachelor of Science in Television Engineering at American Television Institute of Technology, Frank met and married his wife of 66 years, Margaret “Maggie” Ella (Anderson). Frank had a career spanning more than 40 years in civilian and military electronics and communications with Hallicrafters, Raytheon, Motorola, and Northrup-Grumman. In 1971, Frank completed a four year course in Essentials of Management at The Industrial Management Institute of Lake Forest College. Frank and Maggie raised their three sons (who called him Daddy Bear), Frank, Joe, and John, while living in Addison, Oak Park, and Lombard, Illinois. Frank retired from Northrup-Grumman and he and Maggie moved to Beaver in 1993.
The son of immigrant parents who instilled in him a strong work ethic, Frank was proud of his Slovenian heritage. As a member of SNPJ Lodge 33, Frank and his late wife Maggie enjoyed dressing in Slovenian costumes and dancing to polkas and waltzes during Slovenefest. Frank enjoyed woodworking, camping and fishing with his children and grandchildren, recording his family history and finding relatives around the world, and making and drinking wine. To keep his mind sharp during his retirement, Frank operated his own computer repair business, Computer House Calls, until his passing. Frank was a faithful Christian and a member of Beaver United Methodist Church and he spent his life sharing his time, talents, and treasures with others.
Frank is survived by his sister Sophia (PA), his sons Frank Joseph (TN), Joseph Frank (IL), John Joseph (PA), his grandchildren John Frank (TN) and Frank Joseph, Jr. (TN), his great-grandchildren, and many admiring nephews and nieces.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph, Sr. and Sophia (Frank), his beloved wife of 66 years Margaret “Maggie” (Anderson), brother Joseph, Jr., sisters Margaret and Agnes, and great-granddaughter Gracelyn Rose.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, aides, and therapists at University of Tennessee Medical Center, Sweetwater Hospital Association, and Caris Healthcare (Hospice) who were so kind and caring.
Frank’s wish is to be cremated and laid to rest, with Maggie, at Beaver Cemetery. Due to the current pandemic-related restrictions in Pennsylvania and elsewhere, the family is delaying its private memorial and funeral until the spring of 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frank’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association https://www.alz.org/ - (800) 272-3900 or to the Parkinson’s Foundation https://www.parkinson.org/ - (800) 473-4636.
