Obituary
Eva Marie Andersen, 99, of Cleveland died peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. She was born in Palmetto Beach, Florida, May 30, 1912. She was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Dr. Herman L. Andersen who passed away on July 30, 2011 at the age of 100. The Andersens moved to Cleveland in 2004 to be near their children after living in Miami, Florida, almost all their lives. She was a member of the Bowman Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church, Cleveland, Tennessee. In earlier years Eva was very active in many community and charitable organizations including Miami Music Club, aviation and gardening clubs. Her personal interests included singing in the church choir, growing and arranging flowers, and appreciation of fine writing, poetry and art. For many years she managed her husband’s dental practice. She was a licensed pilot and shared her husband’s love for flying and often served as his navigator. An avid fisherman, a favorite activity was fishing in the Florida Keys. Her legacy though, will always be as a person of grace and hospitality for everyone, especially young school friends of her children who often looked to her for counsel, friendship, and unconditional love.
Survivors include her daughter Daryl (Richard) Chesney of Cleveland, son Howard (Joni) Andersen of Ooltewah, granddaughters Doreen (Paul) Frost of Harrison, and Marissa Parker of Fayetteville, Georgia, grandsons Douglas Mayberry of Rockford, Illinois, and Matthew (Tracey) Andersen of Hixson. Great grandchildren include Brandon and Brett Frost, Eva Parker, and Austin Mayberry.
Funeral services will be held at the Bowman Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church, 300 Westview Drive, on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends at a viewing preceding the funeral from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church. Interment will be Monday 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
