Esther Arner

January 2, 1933 — May 22, 2025

Esther Carolyn Arner, 92, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away peacefully May 22, 2025, after an extended illness.

Born January 2, 1933, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, Esther spent her early years surrounded by a loving family. In 1946, she moved with her parents and siblings to a farm in Bridgeville, Delaware, where her roots deepened and her values of hard work and faith took hold.

In 1967, Esther relocated to Takoma Park, Maryland, where she began a long and dedicated career at Washington Adventist Hospital. She worked as a dietary aide for 36 years, remembered by many for her kindness, diligence, and gentle spirit. Earlier in her life, she also worked as a nanny, nurturing and caring for children with warmth and devotion.

Esther was a woman of quiet grace, who found joy in music and reflection. She loved playing the piano and organ, singing hymns, and journaling her thoughts. A woman of deep faith, Esther especially loved reading the Bible and studying her Sabbath School lessons, drawing strength and wisdom from her spiritual life.

She is survived by her brothers: John Arner (Laura) of Pikeville, TN; Art Arner (Atsuko) of Seattle, WA; Ray Arner (Sharon) of Ooltewah, TN; and her sister, Grace Patton of Las Vegas, NV.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Caroline Arner; brothers, Paul Arner and Harold Arner; and sisters, Ruth Dennison and Sarah Rennewanz.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 on June 2, 2025, at Lee Cemetery in McDonald, Tennessee.

Esther's life was one of quiet service, music, faith, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so, shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." -- 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
