Elizabeth "Pat" Thompson

Elizabeth “Pat” Goforth Thompson, 79, a resident of Cleveland, TN passed away on Sunday evening, August 28, 2022 at Morning Pointe assisted living in Athens, TN. She was born on October 23, 1942 in Decatur, TN a daughter of late Joe & Daisy Goforth. Pat was retired from retail sales and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed volunteering for many groups that needed her help. She was very active in the Cleveland Senior Center and the “The Red Hatters”. Pat also enjoyed traveling, a very competitive corn hole player and casino visitor, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Lester “Tiny” Thompson, two brothers Robert & Chester Goforth, one sister Hazel Thurman and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Pat leaves behind to cherish her memory her four children Lisa Cordell (Sarah), Kim Houston (Scott), Kenny Cordell (Lara) and Greg Cordell, one sister Joann Edwards, one brother Jimmy Goforth, five grandchildren Nathan Cordell, Austin Blackmon, Nick Cordell, Ethan Blackmon and Jude Thompson, one great granddaughter Raelyn Cordell, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, September 2, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Athens chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 400 S White Street in Athens, TN.
A service celebrating her life is planned for Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Anthony Johnson officiating. The interment and committal service will follow in the Five Point Baptist Church Cemetery in Decatur, TN. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
