Obituary
Edward Spencer Fagen passed away December 13, 2013 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on St. Patrick's Day, 1945, to David Gillette and Pauline (Lucas) Fagen. Family stories say as a toddler he was always in a hurry, and fell down so often he was nicknamed Tim-ber . Later it was shortened to Tim and the name stayed with him all his life.
He received a Master's Degree in business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi, and worked as an industrial accountant. His passions were his much-loved Rhodesian Ridgebacks, all sports, but especially tennis. It gave him great joy to encourage others and to share his love of the game with them. "Coach Ed" enthusiastically volunteered with local track and tennis teams, always offering praise and encouragement. He was a loyal supporter of the New Orleans Saints and never doubted the team would bring home a Super Bowl victory.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, son John Patrick Fagen and daughter-in-law Donna of Foley, Alabama; daughter Sarah Frances (Fagen) Powell and son-in-law John Powell, of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Sydney (Fagen) Busby; John Fagen Powell and Olivia Claire Powell; a brother, David Gillette Fagen and a sister, Barbara (Fagen) Walls; both of St. Petersburg, Florida; several nieces and nephews; and a special aunt, Maggie (Lucas) Bailey, of Avon, Connecticut.
