Edna Eaves

Edna Mae Eaves, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023, at her residence in Cleveland, TN. She was born on March 6, 1926, in Waleska, GA, to her parents Emory Nicholson and Lethaer Parris Nicholson.

Edna lived a fulfilling life dedicated to her family and community. She worked as a housekeeper in the healthcare industry for many years, bringing comfort and care to those in need. Outside of work, Edna found joy in singing with the Freedom Trio for an impressive 27 years. Her melodious voice captivated audiences, and her passion for music was truly remarkable.

In addition to her love for singing, Edna had a green thumb and took immense pleasure in gardening. She spent countless hours cultivating beautiful flowers and growing lush vegetables. Edna's talent also extended to canning, preserving the fruits of her labor to share with her loved ones.

A devoted woman of faith, Edna was an active member of her church, demonstrating her commitment to spiritual growth and community involvement. Her unwavering dedication to her beliefs and her compassion for others was evident in all aspects of her life.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son Richard Hicks, her daughter Cathy Hicks Bachelor, the father of her children, Dan Hicks Jr., and nine siblings.

She is survived by her children: Dennis Hicks (Geraldine), David Hicks (Bertie), Danny Hicks (June), Patsy Hicks Nichols, and Jeff Hicks (Francine). Edna also leaves behind a legacy of love through her 29 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

The funeral services to honor Edna's life will be held with a visitation at Companion Funeral & Cremation Service in Cleveland on September 5, 2023, starting at 12:00 pm. At 2:00 pm, a funeral service will be conducted at the same location with Pastor Mike McDougal officiating. Following the funeral service, Edna will be laid to rest at the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, where a graveside service will take place.

Pallbearers for the funeral service will include Dennis Hicks Jr., Marty Hicks, Johnathan Hicks, Steve Hicks, Mike Nichols, and Joseph Scroggins. Danny Hicks Jr., Shane Hicks, and Jacob Kelly and Tony Hicks will be honored as honorary pallbearers.

She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her kindness, generosity, and beautiful spirit. May her soul find eternal rest and peace.
