Edgar W. Schock

August 14, 1933 — June 20, 2023

Edgar W. Schock, 89 of Chattanooga Tennessee, passed away on June 20th, 2023. Ed served in the U.S Navy during the Korean War on the USS Keosanqua.


He retired from Southern Railway with over 40 years of service. After retirement Ed took up bicycle riding and rode many miles in the Chattanooga and Ringgold GA area and made it a point to make friends with any dogs along the routes he rode. Ed was appreciative of the many photos of his ancestors and spent much time going over them and telling stories connected to them. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and bicycling.


Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Grissom Schock, father Clarence Schock and brother Jack Schock.


Eddie leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Joyce Reynolds Schock; children, Connie Schock Longley, Mark Schock (Linda), Kelly Schock Chipman (Charles); grandsons, Barrett Schock and Tyler Chipman as well as longtime friend of over 70 years Don McKerly and his wife Betty and his first nephew, Wayne Schock, as Ed was notified of his birth while serving on ship during the Korean War.


There will be a private family service at Forrest Hills Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Martin Boyd Christian Home, 6845 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
