Earl “Squearly” Swallows, 62, a lifelong resident of Old Fort, TN passed away on Monday morning, April 1st, 2013 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Earl was born on December 5th, 1950 a son of the late Luther “Tooty” & Margaret Swallows. Earl was of the Baptist faith and a faithful member of Samples Memorial Baptist Church. Earl was an avid sportsman and loved the great outdoors. Earl had many outstanding qualities, but will be most remembered for his love for Jesus, his family and his church. Earl was always eager to share his Christian faith with anyone he came in contact with. Also Earl was not only a wonderful dad and papaw to his immediate family, but was thought of by many as a “dad” and “papaw”.
In addition to his parents Earl is preceded in death by three brothers Gene, Cecil and Robert Swallows.
Earl leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of forty four years Debbie Rowland Swallows, one daughter Deborah Swallows Burgess and husband Lynn, one son Greg Swallows and wife Amy, seven grandchildren Keisha Burgess Hamby and husband Ricky, Dylan Burgess, Timothy Burgess, Derek Burgess, Thristian “Toot” Swallows, Brooke Park, and Hunter Park, one sister Mary Ann Sims (Thomas), six brothers Ed Swallows (Ruth Ann), J. B Swallows, Junior “Windy” Swallows, Ray Swallows (Judy), Jack Swallows and Joby Swallows. He is also survived by numerous other extended family members, church family, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday night, April 3rd, 2013 at the Samples Memorial Baptist Church located at 371 Samples Chapel Road SE, Cleveland, TN 37323 with the Reverend Mark Cameron and the Reverend Lee Ingram officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 PM until the 8:00 PM service time.
The committal service will take place on Thursday morning, April 4th, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Samples Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with Wade Gladson, Ray Wilson, Dewight Waldroup, Dylan Burgess, Hunter Park & Toot Swallows serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Burgess, Derek Burgess and deacons of Samples Memorial Baptist Church.
