Dudley Hogan Jr., 88, a resident of Cleveland, TN passed away March 18, 2019 at his home with his beloved wife of 64 years by his side. He was born in Celina, TN on August 9 , 1930. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. He was an avid sports fan loved the Tenn. Vols, and golfing. He traveled the U.S. and foreign countries playing golf, and going to basketball games. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy on the USS Randolph and the National Guard. He graduated from Tennessee Tech, taught school for 3 years, retired from Bowater after 35 years and became substitute teacher.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Dudley W. Sr. and Pauline Hogan, brothers in-law; Larry Poteet, and Roy Bunch.
He is survived by his loving wife Shirlene Hogan, daughter; Marcy (Ray) Smith, granddaughter; Amy Grabe, great granddaughter; Marlie Grabe, sisters; Mary Elizabeth Bunch, Bobbie (Richard) Moulton, Anna Grace Poteet and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service Thursday, March 21, 2019. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. with service to follow at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN.
The family ask in lieu of flowers make contributions to Hospice of Chattanooga. The family wants to say a special thank you to Hospice of Chattanooga who took special care of him, and to the EMT’s of the ambulance services who carried him back and forth for 4 years.
