Dr. James Robert "Bob" Thurman, 87, resident of Cleveland, TN went to be with his Lord on March 24, 2019 while surrounded by family in his home.
Bob was born on December 20, 1931 to Tom and Mildred Thurman in Sparta TN. He attended Central Church of Christ in Cleveland TN and was a faithful member of the Lord's church his whole life.
Being an ob-gyn physician for 50 years, he took great joy in ushering in thousands of babies. Many of his patients tell stories of how he would sing a lullaby or hymn to their baby during delivery. Other patients shared how grateful they were for Dr. Thurman praying with them before surgery. He would humbly tell his own family that his hands were simply instruments for healing used by the Great Physician.
Ann, his beloved wife of 55 years, preceded him in death. His brother Tommy Thurman also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his brother Joe Thurman, son James Robert Thurman Jr, and daughters Ann (Doug) Clayton, Trisha (Jay) Nason, Christy (Kevin) Gardner and Cindy (Clint) Locklear. He leaves behind nine grandchildren: Lacy (Ryan) Smith, Luke (Natalie) Clayton, Joshua (Emily) Nason, Mary Clayton, Jordan (Hillary) Nason, Grace (Joel) Hayes, Ashley (Andrew) Sims, Jeremiah Nason, and Joy Nason.
