Douglas Wade Stewart

Douglas Wade Stewart, 74, of Cleveland, TN began his life’s journey in Blue Ridge, GA on March 30, 1943 and ended as a loving husband, father, and grandfather on May 5, 2017.

Doug proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base in Ft. Walton Beach, FL after graduating high school. Afterwards he returned to Cleveland and retired from Hardwick Clothes after 37 years.

Known as “Pop” by his grandsons, he loved to hunt, fish, golf, and most importantly, spend time with those that he loved.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Stephanie Evans; parents, Wade & Reathal Stewart; brother, Jerry Stewart; and sister Eugenia Roberson.

He is survived by his wife, and the love of his life, Carolyn Stewart; daughter Kristy Whitmire and son-in-law, Jackie; grandsons Jordan Whitmire and Matthew Whitmire, sister, Carolyn Cartwright (Blaine); and brother George Stewart.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 11am until the 2:00 PM service time in the funeral home parlor. The celebration of his life will begin at 2pm in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN with the Pastor Sammie Hooker officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors and white dove release. Serving as Pallbears is Jordan Whitmire, Matthew Whitmire, Jeff Freeman, Gary Smith, Greg Parker, and Conner Caprara.
