Douglas Marshall Waeltz, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 25, 2023, at the age of 73 in Etowah, Tennessee, surrounded by his loved ones at his residence in Etowah. He was born on April 18, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the proud parents Clyde and Virginia (Puckett) Waeltz.
Douglas was a man of deep faith, finding solace and guidance in his Baptist beliefs. He cherished his time spent watching old westerns, cheering on his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs, and engaging in friendly games of billiards. But what truly brought a sparkle to his eyes was sharing a meal at Cracker Barrel or grabbing a quick bite at Taco Bell. Those moments of simple enjoyment brought him immense happiness.
Above all, Douglas treasured his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his sons Mark Waeltz, Joseph Munson, and Martin Ginsberg, his daughter Samantha Najera, and his sister Laurie White. Douglas was also a proud grandfather to Javier Najera, Sofia Munson, Shyanne Waeltz, Zackary Ginsberg, Martin Ginsberg, Paige Ginsberg, Gracie Pye, and a great-grandchild, Elena Waeltz. Additionally, he embraced his stepchildren Douglas Waeltz, Edward Waeltz, and Shaylene Cook as part of his loving family.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Alma Burnett, and his brother Edward Waeltz. Their memories will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who loved him.
In the days to come, the family will hold a private memorial to honor and celebrate Douglas's life, where his loved ones will gather to share stories, shed tears, and find comfort in one another's presence. The arrangements have been entrusted to Companion Funeral and Cremation Service, Athens Chapel.
Douglas Marshall Waeltz will forever be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family. May his soul rest in eternal peace, knowing that he has left an indelible mark on the lives he touched.
