Dotty Charters

April 6, 1939 — April 5, 2025

Dotty Fay Charters, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and treasured friend, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, just one day before her 86th birthday.

Dotty's life was filled with warmth, compassion, and an enduring love for her family and for the Lord. Her deep faith was a guiding light throughout her life, evident in the way she loved, listened, and gave so freely of herself. She found strength and peace in her walk with God, and her devotion was a source of comfort and inspiration to those around her.

She shared a beautiful life with her late husband, Gary, filled with years of travel and adventure. In 2014, they chose to settle in Tennessee, where she continued to build strong, meaningful connections with everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Dotty was a true friend, always ready with a listening ear or kind word. Her dearest and closest friend, Jean McCormick, was a special part of her daily life, and their bond was a testament to the power of lasting friendship.

Creative and caring, Dotty enjoyed making hand-stitched embroidered quilts, each one sewn with love. She found quiet joy in spending time with her beloved dog Chloe and was happiest surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is lovingly remembered and survived by her children Bryan Charters, Vera Charters, Robert Charters and his wife Loretta, and Laura Foster and her husband Anthony; her grandchildren Ryan and his wife Meagan, Kayla and her fiancé Charleston, and Austin; her great-grandchildren Emmalyn, Mackenzie, Addison, Gage, and Gunnar; her siblings Jane Benham and Bobby Sherwood; and her closest friend Jean McCormick.

Dotty's legacy of faith, love, and grace will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
