Dortha Hickman

Dortha Harvey Hickman, 83, of Dayton, TN went to be with our Lord on December 4, 2023, after a battle with cancer. She passed in her home surrounded by family. Dortha, whom many of you may know as "Sweet-n-Low" was born April 15, 1940, in Soddy Daisy, TN to the late Charles Washington Harvey and Hester Snyder Harvey. She spent most of her years working in various factories in the Dayton area and transitioned to a caretaker when she was in her later years. In addition to her parents, Dortha is preceded in death by children, Katherine Lena Harvey who died as a baby and David Harold Brooks; brothers, Taylor "Buck" Harvey, Pete Harvey, Dalton Harvey; sisters, Marie Brown Harvey, Arveline Harvey Skiles, and Barbara Harvey Wallace. She is survived by daughters, Susan Cunningham and Teena Brooks; brother-in-law , Earl Miller; granddaughters, LaDawnya Morgan, Angela Morgan, Jessica Brooks, and Cheyenne McFarland; 9 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren with one on the way; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in Dortha's honor at the Potter's House of Prayer Church at 130 Back Valley Road, Dayton, TN 37321 on April 14, 2024. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 1:00-2:00 with services starting at 2:00.
