Dorris Hughes

Dorris (Nan) Jean Hughes 73 passed away January 12, 2024. She was a lifelong resident of Dayton Tennessee.

Nan is survived by ex-spouse, Tommy Hughes Sr., sisters Sheila Tankersley Steel and Leila Simpson; a brother Larry Tankersley; 11 grandchildren; 21 great -grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by daughter, Carla Hughes; her parents, Hubert and Ressie Tankersley; brothers Kenneth Lee Tankersley, Charles Thomas Tankersley, Newton (Butch) Ferris Tankersley, Carroll Tankersley and Deloy Tankersley; sisters Rose Marie Tankersley, Glenda Faye Tankersley and Linda Burchard; and brother-in-law, James Steel.

Nan spent her last 24 hours surrounded by loved ones - Tina and Kevin Greenwood, Melissa Kretzer, James J. Hughes, Tommy Hughes Sr., Sheila Tankersley Steel, Stacy and Eley Steel, Christian Hyatt, Lisa and Rocky Morrison, Jason Tankersley, and Maylee Morrison.

Nan enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, and watching the silent snowfall in the winter. She will be deeply missed and always loved.
