Dorothy Mae Swafford

Dorothy Mae Swafford, 89, a resident of Decatur, TN passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at her home. She was born in Niota, TN on March 11, 1929.
She is preceded in death by her father Ed Cranfield and step mother, husband Elmer Swafford, one son in law Ronald Moore and several siblings.
Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters Betty Turner (Harold) and Diane Moore, three sons Jewell Ray Swafford (Barbara), Dewayne Swafford (Connie) and Tim Swafford (Marla), nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several siblings, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A celebration of her life is planned for Thursday night, February 21, 2019 at 7:00 PM in the Athens’s chapel of Companion Funeral Home located 400 S White Street in Athens, TN with the Reverend Jimmy Lewis officiating. The family with receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until the 7:00 PM service time.
The interment and committal service will take place on Friday morning, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Short Creek Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
