Dorothy Lou Monroe

Dorothy Lou Monroe, 82 of Athens, TN was born into her eternal life, June 30th,2018. Dorothy was born to Earnest “Bob” Hayes, and Lucille Loden Hayes of Grassy Cove Tennessee on December 24, 1935. The oldest of 14 children.

The mother of five children, herself, she lived in Athens TN for most of her adult life.

She was preceded in death by all but 5 of her siblings and one child. She has 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, and countless adopted family that all knew and respected her as Mama or Granny, whom always had a hot meal or a piece of candy for all. She had a quick wit, and a kind heart.

She is loved and dearly missed.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Companion Funeral Home of Athens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 till 3:00 Thursday prior to the service. A graveside service will be held on Thursday following the service at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Athens, TN
